Rental Terms

All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement that you will receive upon booking confirmation or vehicle collection. This document outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance coverage, charges, and your responsibilities for the rental period. In the event of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.

Eligibility Criteria

Renting a vehicle in Penrith:

  • To rent a vehicle in Penrith, you must be at least 21 years old, though age restrictions may differ based on the vehicle type. A full and valid driving licence, appropriate for the vehicle category, is required, along with identification and proof of your current address. You will also need to present valid payment information and a security deposit, as well as meet any other conditions listed in the Rental Agreement.

3. Reservations and Payments

  • Customers can make reservations via our website, by telephone, or at our Penrith office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The remaining balance and security deposit are usually payable upon vehicle pickup. All charges are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where appropriate. We accept major credit and debit cards, securely processed through established payment providers.

Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off

  • At the time of collection in Penrith, it is your responsibility to thoroughly inspect the vehicle and immediately report any existing damage. A vehicle condition report will be prepared and signed by both parties. When returning the vehicle, it should be in the same condition as it was at the start of the rental, accounting for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charged accordingly. The vehicle must be returned with the same level of fuel as when collected; refueling charges will apply if it is returned with less fuel. If you foresee a delay in returning the vehicle, please reach out to us as soon as possible, as late returns may incur extra fees. Insurance and Liability Provisions

Additional insurance options may be offered to lower your financial responsibility. It is important to review these options thoroughly. You will be liable for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess, unless additional coverage is purchased. Any damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms remains your responsibility, regardless of insurance.

6. Modifications and Cancellations

Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice given. For specific information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows may incur additional charges.

7. Restricted Activities

Prohibited Vehicle Uses

  • The vehicle must not be used for any unlawful activities. Engaging in racing, rallying, off-roading, or similar risky behaviors is prohibited. Transporting hazardous materials is not allowed. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unapproved drivers is forbidden. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly against our policies. The vehicle should only be used for its intended purposes and within specified passenger and weight limits. Travel outside designated geographical areas requires prior approval.

Breaching these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.

8. Liability Limitations

To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Penrith is not responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the rental amount paid in the prior 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence or fraud.

9. Applicable Law in Penrith

These Terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales. Any disputes will be resolved exclusively in the courts of New South Wales.

10. Updates to Terms

We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect as soon as they are posted on our website. Continued use of our services indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms.
